Village Member Usage Policies
Effective March 1st, 2023
Privacy Policy
Our work focuses on promoting excellence in early childhood education for Indigenous children. We honour diverse Indigenous communities and perspectives, working together with our partners to develop culturally relevant programming for our children and families. We must also respect and remain accountable to you, the members who participate and contribute to these efforts.
The spirit of collaboration, whether digital or offline, requires your informed consent about the personal information you choose to share. We earn your consent by being accountable to your concerns, transparent about our practices, limiting disclosure of your information, and applying technical measures to keep your information secure.
This Privacy Policy governs the ways we, the Aboriginal Head Start Association of British Columbia ("AHSABC") collect, use, maintain and disclose your personal information collected through The LOVIT Way Village website.
How we collect your information
Information we collect may include:
- Account information: personal information you share when you register or update your user account on The LOVIT Way website, including your name, contact information, and program affiliations
- Inspire resources: information that you submit through Inspire resources on The LOVIT Way website
- Sharing Circle: information that you submit through the Sharing Circle on The LOVIT Way website
- Program Evaluation (PEP): your program or site can access and complete a PEP using The LOVIT Way website or view program PEP details, narrative report and action plans
How we use your information
We collect your personal information to:
- create your account for The LOVIT Way website
- support collaboration within The LOVIT Way community
- communicate with you
- improve your experience of The LOVIT Way
The primary goal in collecting your personal information is to give you access to The LOVIT Way so that you can learn and share with others. We also collect information about what parts of the website are used most or least often, and other details about accessing the website so that we can improve it over time.
The LOVIT Way and/or AHSABC may send you email relating to The LOVIT Way or other AHSABC programs. By registering with The LOVIT Way, you acknowledge that such emails are sent with your consent and permission. You may email us to opt-out of receiving these communications at any time.
We collect your responses to PEP questions in order to:
- provide you with an online system to support you and your team in completing a PEP in a clear and efficient way
- combine all of your answer together so that you and your team can view your PEP results and compare them over time
- provide an online space to securely store PEP results
When you complete a PEP online, your responses to the questions belong to you and your program. AHSABC will never share your PEP information without your consent. By completing a PEP online you are NOT consenting to the sharing of this information with anyone. AHSABC will protect this information and keep it safe and secure.
How we protect your information
We use technical and administrative safeguards to protect your personal information as well as PEP materials. We use Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption to protect the transmission of information you submit to us when you use our secure online forms. All the information you provide us through these forms is stored safely and securely on professionally managed servers.
If you contact AHSABC or The LOVIT Way team via email, you should know that email communications may not be secure.
Our AHS team moderates and curates content within The LOVIT Way community. They have administrative authority to modify or remove content that is in violation of The LOVIT Way policies, including this Privacy Policy, the Terms of Service, and the Community Guidelines.
When we share your information
We invite feedback from members and love to hear from you. If you choose to identify yourself by sending us an email or completing an online form, AHSABC employees will have access to such information if they need to contact you to learn more about your feedback or offer you support.
AHSABC must also release any information that is required to be released by law or court order. This includes disclosures of abuse or neglect of children that may be shared on The LOVIT Way.
How you can access and control your information
We believe that you should be able to access and control your personal information as well as anything you choose to share with others through your account on The LOVIT Way.
You can access your account and personal information at any time by logging into The LOVIT Way Village. You can also access your program’s PEP results at any time. These belong to your program, and your program’s results are to better understand and improve your program.
From time to time, AHSABC may ask if your program is interested in sharing the results of your PEP with AHSABC to be combined with results from other programs across Canada. Combining results from many allows AHSABC to identify areas of strength and challenge for programs overall, and advocate for additional supports. Your name, the names of others who participate in the PEP, and the name of your centre are NOT included in this process. Your PEP results will not be used for these purposes without your additional consent, and you are under no obligation to share your results at any time.
